Dr. Choe joined ROA in 2015. Prior to joining ROA, he was on the faculty at University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he specialized in radiation treatment for brain tumors and high-precision stereotactic radiotherapy. His research focused on elucidating the genetic alterations that contribute to cancer development and progression. He also designed and conducted clinical trials, investigating novel strategies to overcome treatment resistance in aggressive and metastatic cancers.
Dr. Choe grew up in Fairfax, Virginia and graduated valedictorian from Lake Braddock Secondary School. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from MIT, he entered the Medical Scientist Training Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where he received an MD, as well as a PhD in cancer biology. He completed his medicine internship at the Yale-New Haven Hospital and residency in radiation oncology at the University of Chicago. He received further specialty training in clinical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
He has published numerous research articles and book chapters on cancer biology and clinical oncology, some of which have been featured in the New York Times and NPR. His work has been recognized with awards and grants from organizations such as the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Brain Tumor Association, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Dr. Choe is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology.
