Radiation Oncology Associates, P.C. is a Professional Corporation, incorporated in Virginia. It was founded in 1977 by John G. Maier, MD, PhD. Dr. Maier had a distinguished career at Walter Reed Army Hospital, where he became one of the world’s foremost experts in cancer of the testis. After retiring from the Army, he accepted a position as Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at George Washington University Hospital. In 1977, he agreed to come to Fairfax Hospital as its first radiation oncologist and assemble a group of associates. He set the high standards that continue to guide the group.
ROA has grown over the years to a group of seven Board Certified physicians who are the exclusive providers of professional services in radiation oncology at:
- Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia
- Inova TomoTherapy Center (an outpatient facility of Inova Fairfax Hospital) located in Fairfax, VA
- Potomac Radiation Oncology Center, located on the campus of Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Virginia
